They were fighting for more than just home.

This was a fight for the future.

A future that was to be born of the ashes of their dark past. It wasn’t exactly the kind of shit anyone would ever willingly want to be a part of, but if they were being honest, the line between good and bad had long been blurred.

The battlelines had become clearer because, in the middle of the madness and chaos that stood right then, was the reminder that no one was brave enough to speak of in the middle of the battle.

That this was happening so audaciously was because everyone assumed the prince and the Lycan chief had once again fallen apart.

That they had grown soft despite the years they had torn themselves into several halves trying to mend that which was never going to be right for them.

And it hurt, because this was not just an illusion anymore.

The realm had truly chosen to rally against Kawai.

The numbers were too high for a fight against just two people. It was almost larger than the entire population of Kawai.

The Kawai royals were tempted to ask where the numbers had come from, but then ten years of silence, ten years of war, and ten years of a rage that had been left to hibernate could do that.

That was enough time for the Grealors to gather who they wanted to join them, not to mention enough time for them to delude themselves into thinking that silence meant defeat and growing soft.

That silence meant that the Kawai kingdom was putting down the blade and trying to live as normal people. But no one could hide a beast, no matter how long the beast stayed hibernated. There would always be a reason for the beast to come out.

Unfortunately for the Grealors, they were the trigger for their own impending doom.

Maybe they should have tried to think it through and fast because this was the beginning of their end if they were not careful. Then again, this was a different type of confidence they had come with.

They didn’t even look the least bit worried, which was interesting for a group that had been shattered to the core over the years. Maybe it was because of that very past, right? And with the murder of Zula, they were most certainly here for vengeance.

Funny how that was also the concept that the entire Kawai army was going with.

Vengeance.

For their long dead.

And vengeance for the disrespect that lay open before them, especially now that they had failed to protect a home that was everything to them. It was not faith, but the lines had been blurred for long, hadn’t they?

Grealor would learn that much was obvious.

"What can we say, we missed you too, Gabriel," Danny spoke, before Tamiko could say a word. The Lycan prince wasn’t shocked by the appearance; no, he was trying to come up with something better to say to Gabriel.

Then again, what was the point when they were at war? This was going to end in just one way; surely the Grealors would have expected that too, right?

The only challenge would be the timeline because the Kawai warriors were around two thousand, and the people that Gabe had come with were a little over five thousand.

Well, that was a dangerous gamble, but the one obvious thing was the fact that nothing would ever match the strength of the Kawai warriors, especially their motivation to fight.

Moreso now that the mad king was fighting alongside them. A man who wasn’t even in his armor, striking down the wolves like that was his pastime activity. It was a beautiful sight to watch, truly.

There was only so much sanity that lingered here at the moment anyway.

"Oh, Daniel. You shouldn’t have crossed over to this weak camp. Look at the numbers we have. The Lycans will never win this, you can see it too, can’t you? And you even brought the omega to battle – what a terrible notion of battle you guys have.

It was never supposed to be like this. Not with the kind of support he had. And now Tamiko was one of the strongest Lycans that ever lived, but trauma was a funny thing on some days.

And Tamiko hated himself for that.

He hated himself for being triggered by alpha Ashton so easily.

This was not the truth he had fought to get over, and yet he was here, listening to the after talk down to his Erasthai, a reminder that he could only ever do that because Tamiko had apparently gotten soft.

"You really are weak for him, aren’t you? I guess ten years of silence and no wars got you thinking like a real Erasthai and not a prince born of betrayal and war," Gabe mocked as he defended himself from the sword of a Lycan warrior who had come at him.

The dark werewolf prince was able to hold his own against a warring Lycan, which was strange to Tamiko. Sure, he had known that Gabe was a good warrior, but to see him try to fight down a Lycan like that was a tad impressive, if not sickening.

They had all been on something, and it was obvious in the way that the other wolves were fighting the Lycan warriors. They had been saved by Zula, but would they ever be able to win against an army of immortal Lycan warriors?

"You talk too much," Tamiko said, before he lunged at Gabriel and began fighting him, putting an end to whatever dialogues the Grealors were ready to spit in the direction of the royals of Kawai.
